Computed Tomography Image Reconstruction from Only Two Projections
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper concerns the image reconstruction from a few projections in Computed Tomography (CT). The main objective of this paper is to show that the problem is so ill posed that no classical method, such as analytical methods based on inverse Radon transform, nor the algebraic methods such as Least squares (LS) or regularization theory can give satisfactory result. As an example, we consider in detail the case of image reconstruction from two horizontal and vertical projections. We then show how a particular composite Markov modeling and the Bayesian estimation framework can possibly propose satisfactory solutions to the problem. For demonstration and educational purpose a set of Matlab programs are given for a live presentation of the results.

We study the problem of reconstructing binary images from four projections data in a fuzzy environment. Given the uncertainly projections,w e want to find a binary image that respects as best as possible these projections. We provide an iterative algorithm based on fuzzy integer programming and linear membership functions.
متن کاملUtilization of an optimum low-pass filter during filtered back-projection in the reconstruction of single photon emission computed tomography images of small structures
Introduction:Low-pass filters eliminate noise, and accordingly improve the quality of filtered back-projection (FBP) in the reconstruction of single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images. This study aimed at selection of an optimum low-pass filter for FBP reconstruction of SPECT images of small structures. Material and Methods:Sp...

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...
متن کاملMethods to evaluate the performance of kilovoltage cone-beam computed tomography in the three-dimensional reconstruction space
Background: Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanners for image-guided radiotherapy are in clinical use today, but there has been no consensus on uniform acceptance to verify the CBCT image quality yet. The present work proposed new methods to fully evaluate the performance of CBCT in its three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction space. Materials and Methods: Compared to the traditional methods...
متن کاملBi-Level 3D-Image Reconstruction from Two Orthogonal Projections with Periodicity and Sub
As the Computed Tomography (CT) requires normally hundreds of projections to reconstruct the image, patients are exposed to more X-ray energy, which may cause side effects such as cancer. Even when the variability of the particles in the object is very less, the Computed Tomography requires many projections for good quality reconstruction. Discrete Tomography makes use of less variability of th...
